An afternoon At Saint N Sinners which is conveniently located at Global Foyer on Golf Course, In Gurgaon, was no less than a day from a love story , and took me back to my college days, when we would just check in a restaurant which has all happy vibes, and a young feel to everything from the colours of the decor to the seating, facing a large rostrum with well laid instruments and the vibe which can just pull strings at the sight of it. A perfect ambiance to chill out and at the same time can transform your mood to dance and shake a leg, or some days just burst into giggles . There is some connect this place makes with you which for sure would keep bringing you back for more.
Here I was warmly welcomed by the staff and then Anuja herself came up to great and seat me. We spent a little time chatting on the conception of the place. I Was all thrilled to mention that the place took me back to the Nineties when we had one such place in Ansal Plaza( then only existing mall in Delhi) and the popular Geoffrey’s.
The place keeps alive through the week with a well planned calendar with the best of artists performing through the week. I loved the thought of Celebrating MiDLIFE for people on the wrong side of forties, who are young at heart and feel a misfit to the present generation, looking for a place which can sync their feelings and yet keeps the youth in them happy. With Artists like DJ Ami Amit, and singing sensation Starika to many more the Wednesdays keep busy with the wise crowd and to add more to the cheer is the discount equal to your age is offered on the food…..Can’t get better rewards for achieving those grey and yet owning a young Heart. The whole concept is just so thoughtful and unique.
There is never a dull moment here at Saint n Sinners . A lunch with colleagues during the long busy day at work, or a quick conversation with an old forbidden friend over a few drinks, or Chatty evening with Girlie gang, followed by some live music at the weekends . The place has Great Acoustics with performances from the stars Like LEKKA and bands like TANTRIKZ, Musical evenings with Acoustic band UNPLUGGED. Over 150 bands and artists have performed in Just 8 months.
It just can’t get more exciting. Sunday Brunches with the in house expert chef rustling some amazing spread is for sure a good reason to connect with family and friends.
When I was told that the popular Stand up Comedian Rahul Dua is performing in the coming week and he is already sold out, the only thing I could do was wish if I knew earlier I could Have reserved for myself some great giggles, as this person is hilarious yet so like us. Just can’t wait to hear him again after I saw his comedy on Comicstaan.
This is one place which I can Vouch, offers best experience of a Pub and with unconventional, modern, great food options and Mind blowing cocktails( I am yet to sink in some of these very soon some day) on the menu, offers a worldly charm.
The In House Chef, Chef Pramod spent a good time discussing the dishes, and his thought behind the menu. He is been trained under The Masters like chef Imtiaz Quereshi ( Bukhara fame), and having travelled the globe, his dishes no wonder speaks volume and expertise. Combining the elements of trade with His expertise he created work of art with each dish.
The food needs a fair section in my post as this is what left my taste buds sing.
The menu has a huge selection of appetisers , Bites, Saldas. A few star dishes which were the high light if the afternoon spent at SnS, included Bacon Wrapped Chicken Tikka. A well punded chicken tikka enwrapped in a crisp Bacon layer sets your taste buds drooling with a A Surprise center filling of prunes soaked in brandy which brings the final wow factor. Twisty Pub Grub Style, reformed desi Chicken Tikka.
The Mushroom Galouti ( Khumb Galouti Crostini) comes Smoking on a BAsket over coals. The arrival of which itself sets the bar, with smoking aromatic fumes. The crisp Crostini is topped with Mushroom chunks cooked in Creamy Mushroom paste and spices . Subtle yet flavourful. It ‘s again successful take on galouti as it just melts in mouth and served over the Crostini Instead of a Sheermal Roti.
The Basil Chicken Cups Come as Chaat Lovers surprise. I know thinking of chaat at a pub, can flounder the foodie
in you. But when they arrive, they surely make a great pub grub, with finely chopped Chicken cooked in Basil and stacked in the Golgappa Shells. Bite size yet flavourful in that one mouthful bite.
Lotus stem glazed in Orange Teriyaki Reduction . Here the star is the Orange Glaze which is result of a lot of muscle work, as in the orange juice which is reduced on slow fire with pieces of Ginger dunked in.
I asked for the reduction separately on the side. It was so delicious,Sweet and tangy and fiery from th eginger sticks soaked in it. It left so many notes of flavours and a prolonged mesmerizing after taste. I bet this reduction can make you forget about the lotus stem on the plate.
Keema Sliders Mutton Mince Comes as another love story of American and Indian Cuisine with The keema , sitting stylishly in the lap of a crisp onion ring, placed on little slider bun. Drizzled with a mint mayo. The mince has some secret flavours which chef proudly shared with me, and the secret lies in the masala which he himself curates and then cooks the mince in the masala a to get that perfect bite.
By the end of the bite session, and no bare space to fill, I still digged in a few more bites from the Stir fry pok choy with Silken tofu In oriental sauce. What I liked about the dish is that the stir fried phok choy retained its own leafy flavours and was just tossed with some garlic, keeping it simple, yet star on the plate with a melt in mouth silken tofu in the gravy.
I am sure the menu has many more gems which will bring me back to this place yet again, and of course an evening with some Rock, or Jazz or may be a laughter riot once soon.
Sain n Sinners has every reason to celebrate every day of the week, with someone you would like to be with at that moment……Family, Friend, Love……or just with your own self to cherish, cheerand celebrate life.
